Spring Strap Toggle Bolt
The Strap (or Toggle): This is the spring-loaded metal part. It's folded flat for insertion and springs open into a wide, flat "butterfly" shape once inside the wall. This large surface area distributes the weight over a wide section of the back of the drywall, which is key to its strength.
The Machine Screw: This is the threaded bolt that passes through the object you're hanging and then screws into the toggle. As you tighten the screw, it pulls the toggle against the back of the drywall, creating a very secure hold.

How to Install a Spring Strap Toggle Bolt: Step-by-Step
Choose the Right Size: Select a toggle bolt where the screw is long enough to pass through your item and the wall, and engage fully with the toggle.
Drill a Pilot Hole: Drill a hole in the drywall that is just large enough for the folded toggle to be pushed through. The hole size is critical and is usually specified on the toggle's packaging (e.g., 1/2", 3/8"). Do not make the hole too big!
Assemble the Bolt: Unscrew the bolt from the toggle. Pass the bolt through the mounting hole of the item you are hanging (e.g., the bracket of a TV mount).
Attach the Toggle: Screw the bolt back into the toggle by hand until it is snug. Do not tighten it all the way—the toggle must be able to pivot freely on the bolt.
Insert into the Wall: Squeeze the toggle's spring-loaded straps flat against the bolt. Carefully insert the entire assembly into the drilled hole. Push it all the way in until the toggle clears the back of the drywall and springs open.
Pull to Set: Gently pull the bolt head towards you. You will feel the toggle engage firmly against the back of the drywall.
Tighten the Screw: Use a screwdriver or drill/driver to tighten the bolt. As you tighten, it will pull the toggle tightly against the inside of the wall, securing the item firmly in place.
